Why Was My Cat Waking Me Up Every Hour? A Surprising Animal Communication Story
Oct 30, 2026
If your cat has ever decided that 2:00 a.m. is the perfect time to start a conversation, you know how quickly a sweet feline can become a very persistent alarm clock.
That’s exactly what was happening to Dolores.
Her long-haired gray cat, Aries, was waking her every hour through the night. She tried feeding him, comforting him, and doing all the things a loving cat mom could think of. Nothing worked. His brother slept like a little angel, while Aries kept Dolores on the world’s least restful schedule.
She was exhausted—and wanted to know what was going on with her boy.
So she called me for an animal communication session.
“It’s All the Activity in the House”
Dolores and her husband had moved into their historic home about six months earlier. Not long after, renovation work began.
Naturally, we wondered if the construction was bothering Aries. So I connected with him telepathically and asked what was keeping him awake.
He told me he couldn’t sleep because of all the activity in the house.
I thought, The construction? The banging and the people coming and going?
But Aries showed me something else.
What I saw was a house full of spirits—hundreds of them, pale and translucent, moving through the space. It felt like a busy train station, with people constantly coming and going.
No wonder this poor boy couldn’t settle down. His nighttime complaint wasn’t, “Please refill my bowl.” It was more like, “Could someone tell the entire house to quiet down?”
A Surprising Discovery in the Basement
I suggested a shamanic home clearing to help settle the activity and bring more peace to the space.
As I worked remotely, I noticed a lot of activity in the basement. When I mentioned it to Dolores, she told me she couldn’t bring herself to go down there. The hair on the back of her neck would stand up, and she felt spooked.
She had gone down once and noticed an opening where she could see into her neighbor’s basement. Dolores also shared that the home had been part of the Underground Railroad, helping people seeking freedom escape to safety.
I continued the clearing throughout the home, including the basement, with the intention of bringing a calmer, more peaceful feeling to the space.
At Last, a Good Night’s Sleep
A few weeks later, Dolores let me know that she and Aries were sleeping soundly through the night.
I can only imagine how wonderful it felt to wake up in the morning and realize that the night had passed without Aries checking in every hour!
Dolores was grateful to have a new understanding of what her boy had been experiencing—and to feel more at peace in her historic home.
This is one of the things I love about animal communication: our animals can help us see what we might otherwise miss. Sometimes the behavior that’s wearing us out is also a message about what our animal is feeling or noticing.
Is Your Cat Trying to Tell You Something?
If your cat is waking you at night, hiding, or suddenly acting differently, there may be something they’re trying to communicate.
Animal communication can offer another way to explore your pet’s experience. And if your home feels unsettled, a shamanic home clearing may help create a calmer-feeling space for you and your animals.
